Optimizing Maritime Deployments

XipLink technology is currently being used to accelerate maritime IP networks for applications including:

  • Cruise ship very high capacity, multi-link systems
  • Ferry vessel modem offload and hybrid networks
  • Crew welfare networks
  • Passenger Internet access
  • Maritime cellular backhaul communications
  • Corporate applications

XipLink's intelligent Link Balancing and Bonding technology is often used on higher bandwidth applications, or when constant connectivity is important. For example, the ship may switch from a satellite link when cruising, a terrestrial wireless connection when in range of shore, and possibly a wired link when in port.

For maritime deployment, integrators have used a variety of products lines. When the environment is controlled, a low cost XA appliance may be used. To minimize hardware support and given the limited servicing opportunities, some integrators select the XV Virtual products. More rarely for highly integrated solutions, the XE Embedded of XS-104 may be integrated with other equipment.

XipLink’s smaller appliances are ideally suited for industrial, mobile and airborne use due to their low size, weight and power. In combination with XE embedded systems software and the XE-104 single board computer XipLink offers transportation system integrators the greatest flexibility to install wireless optimizers in unique environments.

XipLink optimizes wireless links that experience significant latency, asymmetric connections, and high bit error rates, characteristics that are consistent across any mobile communications network.

As always, XipLink stands ready to assist any interested OEM partners to private label their own wireless optimization products based on the XipLink family of solutions.
