XipLink Announces New XE-104 Accelerator
PC-104 hardware for rapid integration in mobile devices
June 16, 2008 (Montreal, QC and Washington, DC) – XipLink, the technology leader in standards-based protocol acceleration over wireless networks, today announced the release of the XE-104, a PC-104 form factor version of its wireless bandwidth optimizer appliance. The XE-104 facilitates rapid integration into custom communication systems for markets that demand highly reliable mobility, including maritime, aviation and military.
Measuring just 96 mm by 115 mm, the new XipLink XE-104 hardware weighs only 0.162 kg and draws very little power. It provides a robust platform for multi-megabit throughput using dedicated processors and memory while operating in extreme (-40C to +85C) conditions.

The XE-104 delivers full software access to all of XipLink’s wireless optimization features, including kernel-coded SCPS TCP acceleration, string-based data compression, http pre-fetching and other specialized wireless optimizations that network operators can configure to meet the needs of each specific deployment.
The XipLink XE-104 can be rapidly adopted into many modular wireless hardware systems with minimal software interfacing. Simply place the XE-104 in-line in the communication controller, and accelerated traffic can be transparently bridged through any other specialized networking processes that may occur in the chassis.
The XipLink XE-104 works with all other XipLink wireless optimization products. Any system running the XE embedded software can communicate with any other embedded system or with the XA family of scalable appliances over a mesh or star topology.
“Based on the increasing number of wireless solutions our XE software is being embedded on, there is clearly a demand for a PC-104 platform as a complete, preloaded product,” said XipLink founder Charlie Younghusband. “The XE-104 product delivers maximum wireless acceleration on a small, robust platform while maintaining a very competitive price.”
Mr. Younghusband added, “Our clients can still embed XipLink’s acceleration software on their own Linux, BSD or Windows PC-104 or other hardware platforms. And in many cases, the XE-104 product will speed up integration schedules for new network deployments and development of specialized access systems. The XE-104’s highly efficient software continues to meet the network operators’ expectations for TCP/IP network utilization and network performance without compromising the size and robustness of other embedded applications.”
