XipLink Announces New XA Accelerator Appliances
Provides Maximum Capacity for SCPC, TDMA & Mesh Networks

February 20, 2008 (Montreal, QC and Washington, DC) – XipLink, the technology leader for standards based protocol acceleration over wireless networks, today announced a new line of acceleration appliances that provide immediate performance gains for TCP/IP based networks supporting all popular broadband capacity ranges and satellite topologies. The XipLink acceleration solution combines SCPS-TP standards based acceleration with advanced data compression, Quality of Service, HTTP acceleration and more than ten other values to optimize the link for Maximum Capacity.

The new XA Family of accelerator appliances augment XipLink’s highly successful line of XE embedded software accelerators for bandwidth optimization over wireless and hybrid networks. Prior to the XA acceleration family, most vendors provided a limited number of acceleration models despite the fact that network designers need to address various configurations in the broadband network today. As an example, the XA line includes a new low cost addition for the SOHO/SME market, priced under $1,000 USD, while also providing very high capacity models for Satellite Service Providers running up to 155 Mbps with extraordinary capacity benefits. XipLink’s XA Family includes the following models: .

XA-50 for SOHO applications running up to 50 sessions at 2 Mbps.
XA-500 for SME and Mobile markets with 500 sessions at 4 Mbps.
XA-2000 for Enterprise Branches with 2,000 sessions at 8 Mbps.
XA-4000 for Regional Hub sites running 4,000 sessions at 16 Mbps.
XA-10K for Central Hub sites requiring 10,000 sessions at 45 Mbps.
XA-30K for High Capacity sites running 30,000 sessions at 155 Mbps.

“Satellite service providers, integrators and end customers are all looking for ways to optimize bandwidth, especially during the capacity crisis in certain geographies today” said Jack Waters, CEO of XipLink. “The launch of this exciting new XA product line gives all users of capacity, from the smallest SOHO end customer to the largest service provider, an opportunity to improve their bandwidth economics in most cases by a factor of 2x to 10x over un-accelerated TCP traffic with a reasonable payback period measured in a few months. The introduction of the XA Family with new price points will certainly encourage the broad adoption of acceleration technology across many markets, which is fundamentally necessary to keep the satellite industry competitive.”

The announcement of XipLink’s XA Acceleration family also provides a new level of scalability for bandwidth enhancement. While efficient acceleration software is the key to extracting the most performance for the lowest CPU investment it also means that customers have the opportunity to apply this technology to both lower speed networks and very high capacity networks with a common software base. In fact, due to a highly efficient implementation of SCPS Transport Protocol, the XipLink appliances will scale to tens of thousands of connections while supporting third party devices that are fully compatible with SCPS-TP and I-PEP standards.

“XipLink has always focused on efficiency of implementation and total solution scalability” said XipLink founder Charlie Younghusband. “We started with a kernel level SCPS-TP solution eight years ago. The approach was certainly not the easiest approach but it results in unparalleled efficiency. With eight years of experience and through the use of open systems operating environments, we have been able to continue to optimize the software while adding new capabilities, ncluding advanced compression, without compromising performance. This allows us to offer the most scalable and cost effective product line to the satellite communications industry.”
